Liechtenstein
August 15-17, 2003

We headed off to the tiny country of Liechtenstein (look east of Switzerland) to celebrate Ben's birthday, which also happens to be Liechtenstein's national holiday (like the U.S.'s Fourth of July). Ben figured that if Liechtenstein was going to hold a big party in his honor, the least he could do is show up. Yes, we got passport stamps.

Our friend Justin, left, preparing to take a picture of the oft-photographed Vaduz Castle (still lived in by the current Prince of Liechtenstein).

Vaduz was filled with strange artwork, including this moving gear sculpture.

We stayed at a hostel in Feldkirch, Austria, just over the border from Liechtenstein.

The next day we set out on our bikes for a one-day three-country ride through Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland. Those mountains can be killer.
