Salzburg with George Ben's friend George came and visited us and he and Ben went to visit Salzburg on one day. George is a woodworker, building custom wooden furniture by hand. It's a dying trade, he lamented, as the older craftsmen retire and there are fewer and fewer young apprentices like himself willing to put in the dozen plus years it takes to become a master. BH An example of a baroque carved wooden figure. I'm sure this is some saint, but I couldn't begin to tell you which one. BH The two components of this photo are impressive for different reasons. The column is just one large continuous piece of wood whose size amazes. The carving work on the crown topping this display case was more worthy of being recorded than the case's contents. BH A gun cabinet. No really, the cabinet is made of gun parts.
